Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.6 in (25 × 15 mm)	0.36 mm	400 mm	150	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.21 in (51 × 31 mm)	0.71 mm	800 mm	40	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 1.81 in (76 × 46 mm)	1.1 mm	1,199 mm	18	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 2.41 in (102 × 61 mm)	1.4 mm	1,599 mm	8	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 3.62 in (152 × 92 mm)	2.1 mm	2,399 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 4.82 in (203 × 123 mm)	2.8 mm	3,198 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 7.24 in (305 × 184 mm)	4.3 mm	4,798 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
