Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.46 in (25 × 12 mm)	0.23 mm	272 mm	180	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.92 in (51 × 23 mm)	0.46 mm	543 mm	50	Too fine for most machines
3 × 1.38 in (76 × 35 mm)	0.69 mm	815 mm	21	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 1.84 in (102 × 47 mm)	0.91 mm	1,086 mm	10	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 2.77 in (152 × 70 mm)	1.4 mm	1,629 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 3.69 in (203 × 94 mm)	1.8 mm	2,172 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 5.53 in (305 × 141 mm)	2.7 mm	3,258 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
