Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.42 in (25 × 11 mm) | 0.23 mm | 430 mm | 190 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 0.83 in (51 × 21 mm) | 0.46 mm | 859 mm | 55 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 1.25 in (76 × 32 mm) | 0.69 mm | 1,289 mm | 24 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 1.66 in (102 × 42 mm) | 0.91 mm | 1,718 mm | 12 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 2.5 in (152 × 63 mm) | 1.4 mm | 2,577 mm | 4 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 3.33 in (203 × 85 mm) | 1.8 mm | 3,436 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 4.99 in (305 × 127 mm) | 2.7 mm | 5,154 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
