Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.44 × 1 in (11 × 25 mm) | 0.23 mm | 276 mm | 180 | Too fine for most machines |
| 0.89 × 2 in (23 × 51 mm) | 0.46 mm | 553 mm | 55 | Too fine for most machines |
| 1.33 × 3 in (34 × 76 mm) | 0.69 mm | 829 mm | 21 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 1.78 × 4 in (45 × 102 mm) | 0.91 mm | 1,105 mm | 12 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 2.66 × 6 in (68 × 152 mm) | 1.4 mm | 1,658 mm | 4 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3.55 × 8 in (90 × 203 mm) | 1.8 mm | 2,211 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 5.33 × 12 in (135 × 305 mm) | 2.7 mm | 3,316 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck or wall beside a cut-out; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
