“Our First Christmas Together” set in Amatic SC, narrow hand-drawn capitals, on 3 centred lines. Tall, thin and slightly uneven, like lettering on a chalkboard; the strokes are thickened so they cut.

Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.89 × 1 in (23 × 25 mm) | 0.25 mm | 519 mm | 110 | Too fine for most machines |
| 1.78 × 2 in (45 × 51 mm) | 0.51 mm | 1,038 mm | 30 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 2.66 × 3 in (68 × 76 mm) | 0.76 mm | 1,558 mm | 12 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3.55 × 4 in (90 × 102 mm) | 1 mm | 2,077 mm | 6 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 5.33 × 6 in (135 × 152 mm) | 1.5 mm | 3,115 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 7.1 × 8 in (180 × 203 mm) | 2 mm | 4,153 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 10.66 × 12 in (271 × 305 mm) | 3 mm | 6,230 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
