Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.71 in (25 × 18 mm)	0.43 mm	263 mm	130	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.42 in (51 × 36 mm)	0.86 mm	527 mm	35	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.13 in (76 × 54 mm)	1.3 mm	790 mm	15	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 2.84 in (102 × 72 mm)	1.7 mm	1,054 mm	8	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 4.25 in (152 × 108 mm)	2.6 mm	1,580 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 5.67 in (203 × 144 mm)	3.5 mm	2,107 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 8.51 in (305 × 216 mm)	5.2 mm	3,161 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
