Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.52 in (25 × 13 mm)	0.23 mm	293 mm	170	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.03 in (51 × 26 mm)	0.46 mm	587 mm	45	Too fine for most machines
3 × 1.55 in (76 × 39 mm)	0.69 mm	880 mm	18	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 2.07 in (102 × 53 mm)	0.91 mm	1,173 mm	10	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 3.1 in (152 × 79 mm)	1.4 mm	1,760 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 4.14 in (203 × 105 mm)	1.8 mm	2,347 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 6.2 in (305 × 158 mm)	2.7 mm	3,520 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
