Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.37 in (25 × 9 mm)	0.48 mm	258 mm	210	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.74 in (51 × 19 mm)	0.97 mm	516 mm	60	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 1.12 in (76 × 28 mm)	1.4 mm	773 mm	27	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 1.49 in (102 × 38 mm)	1.9 mm	1,031 mm	14	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 2.23 in (152 × 57 mm)	2.9 mm	1,547 mm	5	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 2.98 in (203 × 76 mm)	3.9 mm	2,062 mm	3	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 4.46 in (305 × 113 mm)	5.8 mm	3,094 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
