Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.7 in (25 × 18 mm) | 0.33 mm | 589 mm | 130 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.4 in (51 × 36 mm) | 0.66 mm | 1,177 mm | 35 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 2.1 in (76 × 53 mm) | 0.99 mm | 1,766 mm | 15 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 2.8 in (102 × 71 mm) | 1.3 mm | 2,354 mm | 8 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 4.2 in (152 × 107 mm) | 2 mm | 3,531 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 5.6 in (203 × 142 mm) | 2.6 mm | 4,708 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 8.4 in (305 × 213 mm) | 4 mm | 7,062 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
