Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.62 in (25 × 16 mm) | 0.33 mm | 471 mm | 140 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.24 in (51 × 31 mm) | 0.66 mm | 943 mm | 40 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 1.86 in (76 × 47 mm) | 0.99 mm | 1,414 mm | 15 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 2.48 in (102 × 63 mm) | 1.3 mm | 1,886 mm | 8 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 3.72 in (152 × 94 mm) | 2 mm | 2,829 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 4.96 in (203 × 126 mm) | 2.6 mm | 3,771 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 7.44 in (305 × 189 mm) | 4 mm | 5,657 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
