Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.59 in (25 × 15 mm) | 0.48 mm | 293 mm | 150 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.18 in (51 × 30 mm) | 0.97 mm | 586 mm | 40 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 1.78 in (76 × 45 mm) | 1.4 mm | 879 mm | 18 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 2.37 in (102 × 60 mm) | 1.9 mm | 1,171 mm | 8 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 3.55 in (152 × 90 mm) | 2.9 mm | 1,757 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 4.74 in (203 × 120 mm) | 3.9 mm | 2,343 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 7.1 in (305 × 180 mm) | 5.8 mm | 3,514 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
