Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.77 in (25 × 20 mm)	0.46 mm	295 mm	120	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.54 in (51 × 39 mm)	0.91 mm	589 mm	35	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.31 in (76 × 59 mm)	1.4 mm	884 mm	12	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 3.08 in (102 × 78 mm)	1.8 mm	1,179 mm	6	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 4.63 in (152 × 118 mm)	2.7 mm	1,768 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 6.17 in (203 × 157 mm)	3.7 mm	2,357 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 9.25 in (305 × 235 mm)	5.5 mm	3,536 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
