Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.65 in (25 × 17 mm) | 0.41 mm | 544 mm | 140 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.3 in (51 × 33 mm) | 0.81 mm | 1,087 mm | 40 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 1.96 in (76 × 50 mm) | 1.2 mm | 1,631 mm | 15 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 2.61 in (102 × 66 mm) | 1.6 mm | 2,174 mm | 8 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 3.91 in (152 × 99 mm) | 2.4 mm | 3,261 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 5.22 in (203 × 132 mm) | 3.3 mm | 4,348 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 7.82 in (305 × 199 mm) | 4.9 mm | 6,523 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
