Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.52 in (25 × 13 mm) | 0.28 mm | 310 mm | 160 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.05 in (51 × 27 mm) | 0.56 mm | 621 mm | 45 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 1.57 in (76 × 40 mm) | 0.84 mm | 931 mm | 18 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 2.09 in (102 × 53 mm) | 1.1 mm | 1,242 mm | 10 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 3.14 in (152 × 80 mm) | 1.7 mm | 1,862 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 4.18 in (203 × 106 mm) | 2.2 mm | 2,483 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 6.28 in (305 × 159 mm) | 3.4 mm | 3,725 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
