Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.33 in (25 × 8 mm)	0.48 mm	144 mm	230	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.65 in (51 × 17 mm)	0.97 mm	287 mm	70	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 0.98 in (76 × 25 mm)	1.4 mm	431 mm	30	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 1.3 in (102 × 33 mm)	1.9 mm	574 mm	16	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 1.96 in (152 × 50 mm)	2.9 mm	861 mm	5	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 2.61 in (203 × 66 mm)	3.9 mm	1,148 mm	4	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 3.91 in (305 × 99 mm)	5.8 mm	1,722 mm	2	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
