Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.92 in (25 × 23 mm) | 0.18 mm | 606 mm | 100 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.84 in (51 × 47 mm) | 0.36 mm | 1,211 mm | 25 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 2.76 in (76 × 70 mm) | 0.53 mm | 1,817 mm | 12 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 3.68 in (102 × 94 mm) | 0.71 mm | 2,422 mm | 6 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 5.53 in (152 × 140 mm) | 1.1 mm | 3,633 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 7.37 in (203 × 187 mm) | 1.4 mm | 4,844 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 11.05 in (305 × 281 mm) | 2.1 mm | 7,266 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
