Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.23 in (25 × 6 mm)	0.33 mm	140 mm	280	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.47 in (51 × 12 mm)	0.66 mm	280 mm	90	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 0.7 in (76 × 18 mm)	0.99 mm	420 mm	39	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 0.93 in (102 × 24 mm)	1.3 mm	560 mm	20	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 1.4 in (152 × 36 mm)	2 mm	840 mm	7	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 1.86 in (203 × 47 mm)	2.6 mm	1,120 mm	5	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 2.8 in (305 × 71 mm)	4 mm	1,679 mm	4	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
