“Stepping Into My Birthday Like a Boss” set in Amatic SC, narrow hand-drawn capitals, on 3 centred lines. Tall, thin and slightly uneven, like lettering on a chalkboard; the strokes are thickened so they cut.

Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.82 in (25 × 21 mm) | 0.2 mm | 536 mm | 110 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.64 in (51 × 42 mm) | 0.41 mm | 1,073 mm | 30 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 2.47 in (76 × 63 mm) | 0.61 mm | 1,609 mm | 12 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 3.29 in (102 × 84 mm) | 0.81 mm | 2,146 mm | 6 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 4.93 in (152 × 125 mm) | 1.2 mm | 3,219 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 6.58 in (203 × 167 mm) | 1.6 mm | 4,292 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 9.86 in (305 × 251 mm) | 2.4 mm | 6,437 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
