Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.78 in (25 × 20 mm)	0.23 mm	391 mm	120	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.56 in (51 × 40 mm)	0.46 mm	783 mm	30	Too fine for most machines
3 × 2.33 in (76 × 59 mm)	0.69 mm	1,174 mm	12	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 3.11 in (102 × 79 mm)	0.91 mm	1,566 mm	6	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 4.67 in (152 × 119 mm)	1.4 mm	2,348 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 6.22 in (203 × 158 mm)	1.8 mm	3,131 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 9.34 in (305 × 237 mm)	2.7 mm	4,697 mm	1	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
