Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.75 in (25 × 19 mm) | 0.48 mm | 541 mm | 120 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.5 in (51 × 38 mm) | 0.97 mm | 1,083 mm | 35 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 2.25 in (76 × 57 mm) | 1.4 mm | 1,624 mm | 12 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 3 in (102 × 76 mm) | 1.9 mm | 2,165 mm | 6 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 4.5 in (152 × 114 mm) | 2.9 mm | 3,248 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 6 in (203 × 152 mm) | 3.9 mm | 4,330 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 9 in (305 × 229 mm) | 5.8 mm | 6,495 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
