Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.54 in (25 × 14 mm) | 0.23 mm | 360 mm | 160 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.08 in (51 × 27 mm) | 0.46 mm | 720 mm | 45 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 1.62 in (76 × 41 mm) | 0.69 mm | 1,080 mm | 18 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 2.16 in (102 × 55 mm) | 0.91 mm | 1,440 mm | 10 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 3.25 in (152 × 82 mm) | 1.4 mm | 2,160 mm | 3 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 4.33 in (203 × 110 mm) | 1.8 mm | 2,879 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 6.49 in (305 × 165 mm) | 2.7 mm | 4,319 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
