Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.9 in (25 × 23 mm)	0.41 mm	127 mm	110	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.81 in (51 × 46 mm)	0.81 mm	253 mm	30	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.71 in (76 × 69 mm)	1.2 mm	380 mm	12	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 3.62 in (102 × 92 mm)	1.6 mm	507 mm	6	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 5.42 in (152 × 138 mm)	2.4 mm	760 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 7.23 in (203 × 184 mm)	3.3 mm	1,014 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 10.85 in (305 × 276 mm)	4.9 mm	1,521 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
