Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.73 in (25 × 18 mm) | 0.48 mm | 577 mm | 130 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.46 in (51 × 37 mm) | 0.97 mm | 1,154 mm | 35 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 3 × 2.18 in (76 × 55 mm) | 1.4 mm | 1,731 mm | 15 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 4 × 2.91 in (102 × 74 mm) | 1.9 mm | 2,308 mm | 6 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 6 × 4.37 in (152 × 111 mm) | 2.9 mm | 3,463 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 5.82 in (203 × 148 mm) | 3.9 mm | 4,617 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 8.74 in (305 × 222 mm) | 5.8 mm | 6,925 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
