Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.74 in (25 × 19 mm) | 0.23 mm | 387 mm | 120 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.49 in (51 × 38 mm) | 0.46 mm | 775 mm | 35 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 2.23 in (76 × 57 mm) | 0.69 mm | 1,162 mm | 15 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 4 × 2.97 in (102 × 75 mm) | 0.91 mm | 1,549 mm | 6 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 4.46 in (152 × 113 mm) | 1.4 mm | 2,324 mm | 2 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 8 × 5.94 in (203 × 151 mm) | 1.8 mm | 3,099 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 8.92 in (305 × 226 mm) | 2.7 mm | 4,648 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
