Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.42 in (25 × 11 mm)	0.23 mm	252 mm	190	Too fine for most machines
2 × 0.83 in (51 × 21 mm)	0.46 mm	504 mm	55	Too fine for most machines
3 × 1.24 in (76 × 32 mm)	0.69 mm	757 mm	24	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 1.66 in (102 × 42 mm)	0.91 mm	1,009 mm	12	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
6 × 2.49 in (152 × 63 mm)	1.4 mm	1,513 mm	4	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 3.32 in (203 × 84 mm)	1.8 mm	2,018 mm	3	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 4.98 in (305 × 126 mm)	2.7 mm	3,027 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
