Will it cut at your size?
Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.89 in (25 × 23 mm) | 0.15 mm | 438 mm | 110 | Too fine for most machines |
| 2 × 1.78 in (51 × 45 mm) | 0.3 mm | 875 mm | 30 | Too fine for most machines |
| 3 × 2.67 in (76 × 68 mm) | 0.46 mm | 1,313 mm | 12 | Too fine for most machines |
| 4 × 3.56 in (102 × 90 mm) | 0.61 mm | 1,751 mm | 6 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 6 × 5.33 in (152 × 135 mm) | 0.91 mm | 2,626 mm | 2 | Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care |
| 8 × 7.11 in (203 × 181 mm) | 1.2 mm | 3,501 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 12 × 10.67 in (305 × 271 mm) | 1.8 mm | 5,252 mm | 1 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck or wall beside a cut-out; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
