Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.94 in (25 × 24 mm)	0.41 mm	254 mm	100	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.87 in (51 × 48 mm)	0.81 mm	507 mm	25	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.81 in (76 × 71 mm)	1.2 mm	761 mm	12	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
4 × 3.75 in (102 × 95 mm)	1.6 mm	1,015 mm	6	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 5.62 in (152 × 143 mm)	2.4 mm	1,522 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 7.5 in (203 × 190 mm)	3.3 mm	2,030 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic
12 × 11.24 in (305 × 286 mm)	4.9 mm	3,045 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
