Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.93 in (25 × 24 mm) | 1.1 mm | 591 mm | 100 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 2 × 1.87 in (51 × 47 mm) | 2.2 mm | 1,182 mm | 25 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3 × 2.8 in (76 × 71 mm) | 3.3 mm | 1,772 mm | 12 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 4 × 3.74 in (102 × 95 mm) | 4.4 mm | 2,363 mm | 6 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 6 × 5.6 in (152 × 142 mm) | 6.6 mm | 3,545 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 8 × 7.47 in (203 × 190 mm) | 8.7 mm | 4,726 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 11.21 in (305 × 285 mm) | 13 mm | 7,090 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
