Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.
| Size, width × height | Narrowest part | Cut length | Fit on a 12 in sheet | Rule of thumb |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 0.52 in (25 × 13 mm) | 1 mm | 434 mm | 160 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 2 × 1.05 in (51 × 27 mm) | 2 mm | 867 mm | 45 | Vinyl, card and thin sheet |
| 3 × 1.57 in (76 × 40 mm) | 3 mm | 1,301 mm | 18 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 4 × 2.1 in (102 × 53 mm) | 4.1 mm | 1,734 mm | 10 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 6 × 3.14 in (152 × 80 mm) | 6.1 mm | 2,601 mm | 3 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 8 × 4.19 in (203 × 106 mm) | 8.1 mm | 3,469 mm | 2 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
| 12 × 6.29 in (305 × 160 mm) | 12 mm | 5,203 mm | 1 | Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic |
The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
