Scaling a design scales its thinnest part too. Here is this one at seven sizes, from 1 to 12 inches on its longer side, with how many copies fit a 12 × 12 inch sheet or mat.

Size, width × height	Narrowest part	Cut length	Fit on a 12 in sheet	Rule of thumb
1 × 0.67 in (25 × 17 mm)	0.3 mm	274 mm	140	Too fine for most machines
2 × 1.34 in (51 × 34 mm)	0.61 mm	547 mm	35	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
3 × 2.01 in (76 × 51 mm)	0.91 mm	821 mm	15	Fine detail: vinyl and paper only, weed with care
4 × 2.68 in (102 × 68 mm)	1.2 mm	1,094 mm	8	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
6 × 4.01 in (152 × 102 mm)	1.8 mm	1,641 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
8 × 5.35 in (203 × 136 mm)	2.4 mm	2,188 mm	2	Vinyl, card and thin sheet
12 × 8.03 in (305 × 204 mm)	3.7 mm	3,283 mm	1	Any material, including 3 mm wood and acrylic

The narrowest part is the thinnest neck that holds the design together; sharp tips are not counted. For wood and acrylic, keep it at least as wide as the sheet is thick. How to open the file in Cricut, Silhouette and laser software.
